Kyrus Tsai

Education: Bachelor's, Calvin University, 2020

 

Biography: Kyrus earned his BSE in Chemical Engineering and BS in Chemistry from Calvin University in 2020. He spent two summers as an undergraduate researcher at the University of Cincinnati in Dr. Noe Alvarez's research group. The projects focused on the use of carbon nanotubes in electrochemical systems for detection of heavy metals and neurotransmitters at pico- and nanomolar concentrations. He joined UConn in August of 2020 and has done research on materials produced by cold spray and wire DED. Currently, he is working on a project focusing on nickel based superalloys supported by the AFRL.

 

Current Interests: Metal Additive Manufacturing, Sustainability in Materials, Materials for Extreme Environments, Materials for Athletic Applications, Materials for Aerospace Applications
